Metrics can be complicated or simple; here’s one way to simplify it.

One of the success stories, Dave McClure now offers his inside tips to start-ups.

In this video clip, which is also available as a slide show, Dave presents his marketing principles: AARRR, which stands for

- Acquisition:How do you find your customers, or better, how do they find you?

- Activation: what is their experience when they visit the site

- Retention: how to keep the customers coming back

- Referral: getting customers to refer others

- Revenue: making money with your site.

The most important point of his talk is this: as a CEO, pick 5 metrics, and really focus on getting those five numbers, rather than measure everything. He points to some of the areas you can look at for measuring and fine-tuning your site.
