Once a candidate signs the offer letter, then a Welcome Letter should be sent. This letter conveys the company policies and company culture. It offers a way to help the new employee find his way around the company.
Included with the welcome letter would be:
- Any information about signing up for benefits
- Comments on the work ethics, such as telecommuting, casual dress, etc
- Company traditions that may not be spelled out officially, such as casual Fridays, brown-bag lunch presentations, or others.
- Any transportation policies and benefits, such as public transportation discounts
- Where to find the employee handbook
- Names and contact information of people that can help a new employee, including HR, and others.
